The event started with the welcome address by the Publisher, Mrs Lola Shoneyin where she gave details about the journey so far as she welcomed Hajia Hadiza into the literary world.
Dr Anwalu Anwar gave a keynote speech titled “The Significance Of Northern Nigeria Women’s Voice To the Nigerian Literary Canon”.
Deihlar Musa gave a theatrical performance after which Ngozi Osu Anene presented a review of the book.
The Deputy Secretary-Gen of the United Nation who was represented by Hindi Mohammed-Elfadil said that she was impressed by the major step Hajia Hadiza took in making this book come into reality. She also said the UN is interested in talents in young people while acknowledging the good work Hajia Hadiza is doing through the Yasmin Elrufai Foundation.
SA to the President on Social Investment, Hajia Maryam Uwais in her goodwill speech said she proud of the author for bringing her dreams of writing into reality with this book. She added that the book is a captivating one for anyone who wants to relax and enjoy a good read.
A video was played by Zainab Alkali, the author of the popular novel, The Virtous Woman said this while referring to the author, “You are now part of a larger literary family making a change that is beyond you” “Creative writing is God’s given talent and should be used for Change. Writing is a powerful message”.
The goodwill message from the Emir Of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II was read by the Danmalikin Kano who represented the monarch at the event.
The formal presentation of the book was done by the Founder/CEO of UBA and TEFoundation, Mr Tony Elumelu who also launched the book with the sum of N10million. He was joined businessman, Hakeem Bello Osagie amongst others to launch the book.
A Documentary about Yasmin Elrufai Foundation was shown on the screen and a video drama that portrayed what the book is about.
Husband to the author and Governor of Kaduna State, Mal Nasir Elrufai gave the vote of thanks by appreciating everyone who made time to come for the event out of their busy schedules. He eulogized his wife by referring to her as a multi-talented woman after acquiring three masters degree in different fields. He also narrated how they met 42years ago (August 19, 1976) at the Amina Hall of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
